It’s our latest small upright machine. On the outside, it's light to carry, with a compact storage mode designed for tight spaces. But inside, you’ll find the same technology as a Dyson full-size machine.
A re-engineered, reversible wand improves machine stability when retracted. Combined with the hose and power cable, it provides a total cleaning reach of 12.96m when extended – 25% longer than Dyson's previous small upright vacuum.
Designing the Dyson Small Ball vacuum, engineers worked to concentrate the cyclone technology found in Dyson full-size vacuums. They developed two tiers of smaller cyclones that capture more microscopic dust in the bin.
Inside the Dyson Small Ball vacuum, 19 smaller cyclones, arranged across two tiers, work in parallel to increase airflow. Smaller cyclones generate higher centrifugal forces – which means they fling more microscopic dust out of the air and into the bin.
The Dyson Small Ball vacuum rides on a ball, not fixed wheels. It turns on the spot – enabling full, accurate steering control without the awkward moves.
The vacuum's key components have been engineered to fit inside the ball itself. This gives the machine a streamlined profile, allowing access to tight spaces and lowering its center of gravity so the vacuum is lighter in the hand.
The cleaner head of the Dyson Small Ball vacuum self-adjusts to seal in the machine's powerful suction as you move between different cleaning surfaces. Automatically maintaining optimal performance across both carpets and hard floors.
An active base plate automatically adjusts the height of the cleaner head to seal in suction across all floor types. A direct-drive motor centralises the weight of the cleaner head to drive bristles deeper into the cleaning surface.
As well as nylon bristles to loosen dirt from carpets, the brush bar of a Dyson Small Ball vacuum has a row of anti-static carbon fibre filaments to pick up fine dust from hard floors. These filaments dissipate the static charge that holds this fine dust in place –so it can be sucked away.
With Ball™ technology, the Dyson Small Ball vacuum can be steered with a turn of the wrist.
